About
Hi there!
I'm Deborah. I am a Christian, a wife to a wonderfully interesting man, a mom of grown-ups and a grandma to a charming herd of little boys. Thanks so much for stopping by. This is the story of how Egg Berry Pickle Farm came to be.
In 2021 I made one of the biggest decisions of my life. I moved from southern California to a tiny coastal town in the state of Washington whose population is less than 1000. My kids were all adults, two of the three were married, and a third-generation cranberry farmer who I'd met as a girl and miraculously reconnected with, had asked for my hand in marriage. There are many other details to that story but basically, after much prayer, with my family and on my own, I set out on a new path.
As mentioned, my husband farms cranberries. Before we were married he also kept a few chickens and had a small vegetable garden. In my new environment, I was looking for something that I could invest my time in. I didn't need to go to work but I did needed something worthwhile to do with my days. And where I had assumed some responsibilities with the chickens and pulling weeds and such, what I was doing seemed a bit anticlimactic.
So one day, on a whim, I asked my husband this question, "What if we opened a farm stand?" I can't say I remember the dialogue exactly, but he asked me about what I'd like to sell. I said something like, "Well, we have eggs and cranberries. We could sell those." He was pretty much instantly into the idea and coined the name Egg Berry Farm. The following summer we grew pickling cucumbers that, of course, we pickled. The pickles were really delicious so the word pickle had to be added to our name. Hence, Egg Berry Pickle Farm.
Our first opening was In June of 2024. As I'm writing, it's January of 2025, so our farmstand, and business as a whole is still in its infancy. We have many chickens and our growing areas are increasing. Along with cranberries and as the seasons permit we're growing garlic and onions, raspberries and strawberries, tomatoes and cucumbers, and a variety of chiles and herbs. Along with the gardening, I participate in a local monthly craft fair, and of course, I'm offering practical, farm-inspired, handmade items here at eggberrypicklefarm.com.
Thanks for stopping by and please come again!!🌱🩷
